Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha once revealed she turned down the chance for a role in hit Hollywood movie Gladiator as she was too self-conscious, explaining, ‘I thought I was too fat and pretended I was shooting this big series and couldn’t go to the audition.’ But Nadia shed the pounds in 2010, releasing her own weight-loss DVD, Fat To Fab, the cover of which claimed it to be ‘effective and long-lasting’ and had made her ‘happy’. Indeed, Nadia, who lost 3st 7lb and went from a size 18 to a size 10, looked sensational. Why wouldn’t she be over the moon?! But last month, the motherof-two backtracked in a YouTube video, where she admitted the truth – that she’d been ‘miserable’ and was ‘crying in the toilets’ on the day of filming, terrified she wasn’t ‘going to be the right weight’ when she was made to step on the scales. Nadia added, ‘You have to work very, very hard to get the kind of results I did.’

Nadia, 53, wasn’t the only one affected by her gruelling schedule. Now a size 12-14, she confessed, ‘My family and friends said I changed. I had to be so focused on not eating and working out hard.’

It’s sad that Nadia was once part of an industry selling unattainable weight-loss dreams – but well done to her for coming clean.

Nadia’s own DVD made her ‘upset’
