‘Fat Amy becomes an action hero-I love dit!’
Aussie actress Rebel Wilson, 38, shot to fame in Bridesmaids. The larger-than-life comedy star is now a big name in Hollywood.
How was the ‘boot camp’ experience?
We did Bella Boot Camp a month before we started filming, and it’s really fun – like getting the gang back together. Everyone is like, ‘Hi!’ and, ‘What a really nice handbag you have!’
Is it intimidating when you’re given a pile of songs to learn?
It was scarier in the first movie, but we have got a lot more used to it, and are a lot quicker at picking up most routines. Some of them are 10-part harmonies, where every track is different for each of the 10 girls. But, somehow, we manage to put it all together.
How much fun was it to film those action scenes?
Suddenly, Fat Amy becomes an action hero, which I relished because I’m a big fan of kung-fu and action movies. And I’m not the type of person that usually gets cast in those kinds of roles! But I deliver. So I’ve used Pitch
Perfect 3 as an audition for future action and kung-fu directors to see my skills. There is more from where that came from!
Did you injure yourself at all during the action scenes for this movie?
Actually, I didn’t get one injury during all the fight scenes, though in my follow-up movie, I slipped down a grassy hill and got concussion! On Pitch Perfect 2, I fell down the make-up stairs and really banged myself
up. But, weirdly, doing the fight scenes on this movie I got no injuries.
If you were sitting down to watch PitchPerfect3, what moment would you like to see?
Well, there is a duet, that has been cut from the film which, personally, I think is one of the best things ever shot! Apparently, everyone agrees, even though it didn’t make the finished movie. But it will be on the DVD. It’s a duet with me and John Lithgow, so look out for it!
PitchPerfect3 is now available on digital download and on Blu-ray and DVD from Monday 23 April, courtesy of Universal Pictures (UK)
