They’ve ‘catnapped’ my moggie

-

Poppy, my cat, has always been an outdoor puss but, just recently, she has taken to disappearing for weeks on end. I popped round to my neighbours’ the other day to deliver some post, and saw Poppy asleep in their kitchen – they have even bought her a basket. I am livid! I know there may be people with more serious problems, but I am really angry about this, as I’m sure they must have lured her away by feeding her. What can I do? I miss Poppy and I want her to come home! Antonia, Bristol

I don’t have a cat but I do have a dog, and all I can say is, I would be totally incensed if I went next door and saw my pup being lured away from me by my neighbour. The reality is, you own the cat, and you are responsible. So, instead of her being an

outdoor cat, perhaps you could buy her a nice basket and bring Poppy in. Maybe then she’d be more happy to stay at home. If this happens again with the neighbours, I’d definitely tackle it head-on and have a talk with them about why this is not acceptable!
