Toy-boy trouble

As a divorced mum-of-two, my friends and family pay a lot of attention to who I decide to date. I can’t help being more attracted to younger men (in their early 30s) but my sister has told me that it’s ‘inappropriate’, as the last one was only three years older than my son. But being both youthful-looking and young at heart, I just seem to get on with younger guys better. Should I reconsider my type, or to hell with all the haters?! Laura, 51, Exeter

The age gap really doesn’t seem to matter any more – times have certainly changed. A friend of mine was married to a man who was 28 years younger than her, but it didn’t make any difference and they were very happy. Look, you are a free agent. I assume you’re not looking for a husband – so just enjoy yourself. If a younger man feels right for you – don’t worry about living through other people’s opinions.
