GERMAN ADVENTURE KIT specialists Touratech have decided to give something back to the wider world of trail riders via the creation of a 1250km, five-day route from the north to the south of Portugal. The new Adventure Country Tracks website offers the route free, gratis and for nothing. The trail offers ‘verdant green valleys, tree-lined mountains, fields of gold, centuries old trails, narrow cobbled village streets, Portugal’s rich history, and rarely seen back country.’ Which sounds ace. The plan is to offer an Adventure Country Tracks route in other European countries too. This follows the successful Back Country Trails programme that Touratech support in the USA. The Portuguese route goes from Bragança in the north to Tavira on the south coast. Just go to the website, register and download.
