From TT to Erzberg

Fresh from three top four finishes at the 2017 TT, and the best crash/not crash in the Senior race, James Hillier packed away his trophy and leathers, swapped his Kawasaki ZXœ10R for a KLX450R, waved goodbye to Douglas and set off for Austria and a whole different world of lunacy at the Erzberg Rodeo to take part in his first Hard Enduro. Erzberg is easily comparable to the TT in terms of motorcycle madness says the Bournemouth racer: ‘Most people into bikes know about Erzberg but until I got here I never appreciated what it is actually like. TV doesn’t do it justice. It is similar to the TT in that way – everyone who goes to the TT for the first time is shocked because it is just so different to what it looks like on telly.’ James qualified for the main race and made it to a creditable eighth checkpoint before he broke a radiator and had to retire.
