Don’t be lulled into thinking that wild Daffodils are identical to the ‘daffs’ in your garden, and thus not worth scrutiny. Wild daffs are a separate species, distinguished from their cultivated cousins by paler petals, uptilted flower heads, and brighter yellow corona. Once widespread across England and Wales, they have declined drastically since the 19th Century and are found in western parts.
