1Ap­proach­ing from the A939 check the moor­land around the edge of the loch for chats and buntings.

2Walk around the side of the loch check­ing for feed­ing waders and wag­tails.

3Scan over the wood­land for Cross­bills and other finches. Sev­eral rap­tor species can be found in the area.

4Look out for breed­ing Red Grouse and waders. Lis­ten for alarm calls when Short-eared Owls and Hen Har­ri­ers are quar­ter­ing the heather.

5A mix­ture of wild­fowl use the loch and don’t be sur­prised when you find a diver feed­ing close by them. Check the out­flow stream for Dipper and Grey Wag­tail.
