1Approaching from the A939 check the moorland around the edge of the loch for chats and buntings.
2Walk around the side of the loch checking for feeding waders and wagtails.
3Scan over the woodland for Crossbills and other finches. Several raptor species can be found in the area.
4Look out for breeding Red Grouse and waders. Listen for alarm calls when Short-eared Owls and Hen Harriers are quartering the heather.
5A mixture of wildfowl use the loch and don’t be surprised when you find a diver feeding close by them. Check the outflow stream for Dipper and Grey Wagtail.
