YELLOWLEGGED GULL

Bird Watching (UK) - - 30 Years Of Birdwatching -

Thirty years ago, Yellow-legged Gull was what some birders called the michahellis subspecies of Herring Gull, which was seen when those same birders holidayed in the Mediterranean. But times have changed and the Herring Gull and Lesser Black-backed Gull complex has undergone some major taxonomic revisions. At least 1,000 now winter in the UK, and the odd pair even breeds.
