The White-billed Diver has al­ways been con­sid­ered a very rare bird in the UK, and cer­tainly this was how it was per­ceived when BW launched. But in the last decade, more or less sta­ble win­ter­ing pop­u­la­tions of sev­eral dozen have been found off the Outer He­brides and north-east Scot­land, with the vil­lage of Port­soy a hotspot.
