Bird Watching (UK) - - 30 Years Of Birdwatching -

The Firecrest is a bird we were always promised would colonise the UK. After the first proved breeding in 1962, they have slowly but surely increased. By 1989, there were 130 pairs breeding, though this crashed to fewer than 20 pairs by 1992. There are now an estimated 550 pairs.
