TIPS FOR LEARNING DAWN CHORUS BIRDSONGS

Bird Watching (UK) - - Songbirds Dawn Chorus -

Jonathan says: If you are new to learning bird songs and calls, don’t be intimidated by the onslaught of the huge variety of songs that make up the dawn chorus. Instead focus your attention on no more than four or five individuals. Try and learn them with the aid of CDS, books and apps now on offer. Time spent well preparing, will ensure that when you are in the field you are able to recognise the patterns in the rhythm, changes in tone and resonance of the birds you learnt at home. But remember, the dawn chorus is aural spectacular, not a test! International Dawn Chorus Day takes place this year on 1st May – visit to find an event near you.
