Bird Watching (UK) - - May Id Challenge -

LIZ POTTER Editor, Garden Answers You don’t want to disturb any birds breeding in your hedges, bushes and shrubs, so May is the perfect month to start growing pollinator-friendly plants from seed. Choose hardy annuals such as Sweet Peas, Poppies, Cornflowers, Eschscholzia and Stocks. Don’t forget the Poached Egg Plant, famous for attracting hoverflies, and ladybirds which in turn will feed on aphids, while Sunflowers provide a bit of height and the oil-rich late-summer seedheads that birds love to eat.
