Bird Watching (UK) - - Go Birding -

1Driv­ing along the A897 north to­wards the re­serve check Loch an Ruathair for feeding divers, waders and duck.

2Check the open ground for breed­ing waders. Scan the area and lis­ten for calls and watch for dis­play.

3The vis­i­tor cen­tre is found at the north plat­form of the rail­way sta­tion and is open from April to Oc­to­ber. A live CCTV footage of breed­ing Hen Har­ri­ers can be found inside as well as walk de­tails. Try the Dubh Lochan Trail which is eas­ily ac­cessed from the vis­i­tor cen­tre and is a great way of see­ing some amaz­ing bog pools up close. A ‘Flows Ob­ser­va­tory’ (view­ing tower) is be­ing built on the trail which will en­hance the po­ten­tial of view­ing more birds.

45Try the Forsi­nain Trail, a four-mile self-guided walk lo­cated a 10-minute drive north of the vis­i­tor cen­tre at Forsinard. While en­joy­ing the walk, look out for har­ri­ers and Mer­lin.
