PALLAS’S GRASSHOPPER WARBLER
Many birdwatchers will remember when the Pgtips, as at it is affectionately known, was an exceptionally rare bird, in the 1970s. These days, they are just about annual, with some years producing three or four birds (with a total of more than 50 now accepted). Nearly all are found on Shetland, particularly Fair Isle, and are mostly juveniles. Late September to early October is the peak period.
