1 There are several parking areas to choose from, but to start with try the country park’s own at Linkfield. 2 Walk along the shore checking the Hedderwick Plantation for woodland birds and migrants. Two species of woodpecker are possible here along with spring and autumn arrivals across the North Sea. 3 Cover the estuary with a rising or falling tide looking out for passage and breeding waders. Winter may bring in buntings and finches along the shore. 4 Move across the estuary to Tyninghame estate where you can park and view for waders and wildfowl. 5 Drive back towards Dunbar checking the Seafield pools on route and finding another car park overlooking the estuary ideal for full tide.
