1 There are sev­eral park­ing ar­eas to choose from, but to start with try the coun­try park’s own at Link­field. 2 Walk along the shore check­ing the Hed­der­wick Plan­ta­tion for wood­land birds and mi­grants. Two species of wood­pecker are pos­si­ble here along with spring and au­tumn ar­rivals across the North Sea. 3 Cover the es­tu­ary with a ris­ing or fall­ing tide look­ing out for pas­sage and breed­ing waders. Winter may bring in buntings and finches along the shore. 4 Move across the es­tu­ary to Tyn­ing­hame es­tate where you can park and view for waders and wild­fowl. 5 Drive back to­wards Dun­bar check­ing the Seafield pools on route and find­ing an­other car park over­look­ing the es­tu­ary ideal for full tide.
