Petrel stations to help UK’S smallest seabird

Bird Watching (UK) - - News Wire -

A ‘petrel station’ has been built on the Welsh island of Skokholm to help fuel conservation efforts aimed at helping the UK’S smallest seabird. Storm Petrels are notoriously difficult to study in their nests, making questions such as “how many chicks fledge per nest?” a real struggle for researchers. Now the South and West Wales Wildlife Trust, who own the island, have built a nesting wall, dubbed The Petrel Station, near to the Quarry, to supplement the plastic nest boxes installed in the 1990s.
