Two threat­ened species of wad­ing bird were seen in record num­bers at Dove Stone in the Peak Dis­trict this year. An un­prece­dented 44 pairs of Dun­lin were recorded at the Sad­dle­worth site, an in­crease of 37 pairs since 2004. Curlew num­bers also in­creased, with 19 pairs sighted, up from 16 in 2015. Both species were on the brink of dis­ap­pear­ing from the Peak Dis­trict.
