1 From the park­ing area fol­low the track along the Cather­ton Marshes wood­land edge and watch for Tree Pip­its in spring and sum­mer and a pos­si­ble Spar­rowhawk. All the way round the walk, be sure to check any conifers for Cross­bills that are recorded in the gen­eral area. Reed Bunt­ings breed. 2 Fol­low the tracks to the na­ture re­serve, check­ing the gorse and scrubby ar­eas for Whin­chat in sum­mer, Stonechat, Lin­net and Yel­lowham­mer. Sky Lark, Swift and hirundines are around. 3 All the while check for Raven, Buz­zard and Tawny and Lit­tle Owls. At dusk in spring the sound of a rod­ing Wood­cock can be heard and Short-eared Owl have been recorded in the win­ter. Some sum­mers ago Night­jar were here and the hope is they will re­turn.
