HIGH­LIGHTS: A Cory’s Shear­wa­ter was at Peter­stone (9th). A Wry­neck was at New­port Wet­lands (9th-15th), with a Pec­toral Sand­piper there (14th-18th) and Bit­tern (20th). A Quail was on the Skir­rid (14th). NEW­PORT WET­LANDS RE­SERVE: Three Spot­ted Red­shanks were present (2nd), with three Lit­tle Stints (3rd). A Marsh Har­rier was present for most of the month, with a male noted (15th), Hen Har­rier (22nd) and Mer­lin (17th). Two Egyp­tian Geese were recorded (8th). Wader num­bers re­mained high, with wild­fowl num­bers start­ing to build. OTHER

SITES: Marsh Har­ri­ers were at Caldicot Pill (6th) and Llan­degfedd Reser­voir (12th). A Hen Har­rier was at the Blorenge (11th). Two Sand­wich Terns were at Llan­degfedd Reser­voir (8th), where a num­ber of Arc­tic and Com­mon Terns passed through. A Barn Owl was at Bul­wark (15th). Chris Hatch
