HIGHLIGHTS: The long-staying Black Duck was seen regularly at Strontian. On Skye, a Red-backed Shrike was near Neist Point, a Great White Egret at Glendale (27th) and a Long-tailed Skua in Broadford Bay (30th). A Sabine’s Gull was near the Crowlin Islands (7th). The first Yellow-browed Warbler was near Bettyhill (22nd). A Black Tern at Dornoch (2nd) was joined by a second (3rd-8th). A Honey Buzzard flew over Inverness (1st). A Long-tailed Skua passed Chanonry Point (27th). BLACK ISLE: Jemimaville held 27 Scaup and 28 Slavonian Grebes (7th). Chanonry Point, logged a Pomarine Skua (10th), Little Gull (1st), 325 Kittiwakes (10th), a Hobby (3rd) and 250 Swallows (1st). BADENOCH AND STRATHSPEY: A Grey Plover flew over Nethybridge (28th). A Hobby was at Loch Insh (5th). Three Ring Ouzels were at Gaick (19th). EASTER ROSS: There were 3,000 Wigeon at Tain (21st). A Curlew Sandpiper was at Inver (25th). Tarbat Ness logged seven Velvet Scoters (22nd), two Pomarine Skuas (12th), 11 Purple Sandpipers (11th) and two Blackcaps (15th).
INVERNESS-SHIRE: Two White-tailed Eagles were in Strathdearn (28th). Two Black-throated Divers and two Slavonian Grebes were on Loch Duntlechaig. A Little Stint was at Castle Stuart (10th). Maxima at Whiteness included 200 Ringed Plovers, six Grey Plovers, 280 Dunlin and 22 Common Terns, with 200 Gannets (23rd), a Little Gull (11th) and Blackcap (26th). NORTH WEST AND SUTHERLAND: Balnakeil Marsh held a Lapland Bunting (8th) and a Curlew Sandpiper (10th). Another Curlew Sandpiper was at Bay of Culkein (12th). Eighty Twite were at Balchladich (2nd). Stoerhead held three Lapland Buntings (16th-20th). Merlins were at Culkein Stoer (1st) and Loch Lurgainn (28th). A Grey Plover was near Achiltibuie and a Curlew Sandpiper at Achnahaird (18th-21st). Four Storm Petrels were of Rubha Dubh Árd (13th). Two Ring Ouzels were at Loch a’chroisg (6th and 13th). The long-staying Glaucous Gull remained at Ullapool. Twenty Dotterel were on Am Faochagach (22nd). Three Little Gulls were at Brora all month. There were 120 Sanderling, a Curlew Sandpiper and five Little Gulls at Dornoch (10th). SKYE AND RUM: There were 80 Twite at Rhu Bornesketaig (30th) and a Pomarine Skua (1st). Kilmaluag Bay held a Pomarine Skua (1st) and 25 Brent Geese (8th). A Short-eared Owl was at Ullinish (29th). Eighty Black-tailed Godwits were at Loch Portree (1st). Maxima in Broadford Bay included 75 Brent Geese, 300 Dunlin, a Curlew Sandpiper (12th), 113 Knot, 25 Whimbrels and a Ruff (7th). On Rum, Lapland Buntings were at Kilmory (13th) and Mullach Mór (16th). Tom Wells
