The rarest bird dur­ing Oc­to­ber, was prob­a­bly the im­ma­ture Black-browed Al­ba­tross which passed Bard­sey Is­land, Gwynedd, on 16th. There were of rare birds on of­fer for those who missed out on the al­ba­tross, in­clud­ing a Booted War­bler and a Red-flanked Blue­tail, both on Great Orme, Conwy, Hume’s Leaf War­bler, at the Gower, Glam­or­gan, Squacco Heron at Llangwn, Pembrokeshire, and Baird’s Sand­piper at Kenfig, Glam­or­gan.
