KEY POINTS

Bird Watching (UK) - - Go Birding -

1

Park in the small car park by the track just off the road. Scan the rough vegetation around Loch Gorm for harriers.

2

Walk up the track checking the various pools for waders. In winter, geese are everywhere and fly a short distance from you. Look out for Merlin along the fence lines.

3

Look for Greenland White-fronted Geese among the many Barnacle Geese.

4

Look out for areas of cropping used by Twite in winter and Corn Crakes in summer.

5

Check the rocky ground for hunting raptors, with both Peregrine and Golden Eagle likely in the area.

6

Walk back towards the start. A coastal walk is made hard by many fences, but if you know the tide times (and please do check them carefully) you could walk back by the beach.
