INVERTEBRATE

Bird Watching (UK) - - Your Birding Month -

MOTHS Even the most ardent wildlife-watcher may be downcast by December’s short, monochrome days and deterred from venturing forth to explore outside. Fear not, for indulging in an indoors safari is a good shout this month. My favourite winter denizen of our domiciles is the many-plumed or Twenty-plume Moth which is attracted to light and routinely hibernates indoors. The English name comes (confusingly) from the total of 24 separated ‘plumes’ of the combined wings.
