Lapwing breeding success

Bird Watching (UK) - - News Wire -

Lapwings at WWT’S Washington Wetland Centre have had one of their best breeding seasons since the centre opened, thanks to cash from the People’s Postcode Lottery. Money from it has paid for an enhancement project at the reserve, which included fitting a coir matting filtration system, and reinforcement to pond edges, among other improvements which have reduced erosion and restored vital habitats. And the Lapwings were not the only beneficiaries; the increased feeding opportunities created by the project have also aided the centre’s Avocet and Redshank populations.
