HOLY­HEAD AREA: Holy­head Break­wa­ter CP held a Pal­las’s War­bler (16th). It was the best year ever for Yel­low-browed War­blers there, with singles (9th, 18th, 20th & 30th), and two (10th & 16th). There were two Firecrests (16th), three Ring Ouzels (16th), a Whin­chat, Black­cap, Jay (first site record), Mer­lin, Wa­ter Rail, Great Skua and Red-throated Diver. On The Range, La­p­land Bunt­ings peaked at 19 (8th). There was a late Grasshop­per War­bler (7th), Whin­chat, Jack Snipe, Mer­lin, Wood­cock, two Richard’s Pip­its (30th) and a Shore Lark (30th). At South Stack, the first Red­wings re­turned (6th) with Field­fares (11th). There were two Ring Ouzels (7th), a Jack Snipe (8th), four Cross­bills (11th), a Bram­bling (12th), Swal­low (20th), Wood­cock (20th) and La­p­land Bunt­ing (26th). Sol­diers Point held a Yel­low-browed War­bler (7th) and Firecrest (16th). The In­land Sea had a Great White Egret 8th), with two there (11th), 53 Lit­tle Egrets (10th), two Scaup (12th) and 18 Mediter­ranean Gulls (11th). OTHER SITES: Cem­lyn held a Lit­tle Stint, two Curlew Sand­pipers, 236 Golden Plovers, 10 Grey Plovers, two Green­shanks and a Richard’s Pipit (16th), plus a Black Red­start (30th). Mall­traeth Marsh had a Reed War­bler (4th), Wood Sand­piper (5th), Cetti’s War­bler, Bittern, Marsh Har­rier, Hen Har­rier, four Green­land White-fronted Geese and nine Whooper Swans. Two Yel­low-browed War­blers were at Wylfa Head. A Hobby was at Rhoscolyn. A La­p­land Bunt­ing and Hooded Crow were at Aml­wch. Point Ly­nas logged a Po­ma­rine Skua, Arc­tic Skua, Great Skua, Black-throated and Red-throated Divers and Med Gull. Llyn Lly­we­nan had a Bittern and Marsh Har­rier. Ce­maes had a Yel­low-browed War­bler (24th), Firecrest, King­fisher and Grey Wag­tail. Ken Croft
