HIGH­LIGHTS: A huge in­flux of Yel­low-browed War­blers peaked at 34 (2nd) be­tween Scoughall and Thorn­ton­loch. A Blyth’s Reed War­bler was at Barns Ness (3rd), with two Great Grey Shrikes (14th) and a Pal­las’s War­bler (6th). Red-breasted Fly­catch­ers were at Tor­ness and Barns Ness and a Hoopoe at Kingston (6th). An Olive-back Pipit was at White Sands (8th). A Black Tern was off Mus­sel­burgh (15th-16th), with a Richard’s Pipit at Aber­lady and a Great Grey Shrike, five Pal­las’s War­blers, a Radde’s War­bler, Siberian Chif­fchaff and Dusky War­bler (to 21st) at Barns Ness. A Hen Har­rier flew over Drum­brae, Edinburgh (17th). A Surf Scoter was at Mus­sel­burgh all month. A prob­a­ble Siberian Ac­cen­tor was at Thorn­ton­loch (20th). A Bluethroat was at John Muir CP (21st-25th), with 14 Shore Larks (23rd) and a prob­a­ble Ste­j­neger’s Stonechat (26th). Loth­ian’s third in­land record of Shore Lark came from Scald Law (23rd), with one at Aber­lady Bay (30th). A Red Kite was in the Lam­mer­muirs (28th). ABER­LADY: There were four Lit­tle Egrets (2nd), Jack Snipe (2nd & 23rd), Scaup (4th), over 1,000 Bar­na­cle Geese (6th), eight La­p­land Bunt­ings (30th), Mer­lin (9th), 50 Twite and eight Waxwings (22nd), Short-eared Owl (23rd) and Snow Bunt­ing (29th). BARNS NESS: There was a Jack Snipe and Snow Bunt­ing (2nd), Pied Fly­catcher (6th), Lesser Whitethroat (14th & 17th), Wa­ter Pipit (19th-30th), four Waxwings (22nd) and two La­p­land Bunt­ings (26th-28th). Two Long-tailed Skuas flew past Tor­ness (2nd) which also held a Long-eared Owl and Twite (8th) and Red­start (15th-16th). Skat­eraw had a Brent Goose (2nd-5th), Snow Bunt­ings (5th & 23rd) and a Lit­tle Egret (22nd). Twelve Bean Geese (16th-23rd), 11 White­fronts (23rd-26th) and a Raven (29th) were at White Sands Quarry. A Snow Bunt­ing (16th), Great North­ern Diver and Dip­per (30th) were at Thorn­ton­loch. MUS­SEL­BURGH: There was a Lit­tle Stint (1st), Curlew Sand­piper (2nd-4th), Ruff (10th and 28th), Yel­low-browed War­bler (9th), eight Scaup (11th), a Black-throated Diver (13th), and a Snow Bunt­ing plus three Twite (30th). TYNINGHAME: Scoughall recorded two Pin­tails, Jack Snipe and Short-eared Owl (14th-15th), and 40 Red-throated Divers, Black-throated Diver, Sand­wich Tern and three La­p­land Bunt­ings (29th). Eight White-fronted Geese were at Lochhouses (16th). A Jack Snipe was in Bel­haven Bay (21st). La­p­land Bunt­ings (22nd & 31st), Snow Bunt­ing (26th) and 30 Twite (30th) were at JMCP. OTHER: A Ring Ouzel was at Harper­rig (1st). A Man­darin was at Black­ford Pond (1st-13th). A Hooded Crow was at Sil­ver­knowes (2nd). A Wa­ter Rail and Raven were at Holy­rood Park (6th). Four Med Gulls (22nd) and a Sand­wich Tern (27th) were in Gos­ford Bay. Waxwings in­cluded 10 at Hadding­ton (22nd) and 24 in Gullane (29th-30th). Jim Ni­chol­son
