Cheeky monkey!

-

Locals claim no fewer than one million bats live in this cave in Phnom Sampeau, Cambodia. The flow of bats lasts for 15 minutes so they may well be right! In Phnom Sampeau, I was able to capture the magnificent display of bats, but it’s also famed for vistas and temples. I wanted to see them, so I made a separate journey to have a nosey around. I’m not as fit as I used to be, so the climb to the top had left me a little out of breath. I grabbed an ice cream from a pop-up shop at the summit, sat down and took in the brilliant panoramic views. But I soon realised that I wasn’t alone. A group of thuggish macaque monkeys were close-by and were cautiously edging closer and closer towards the food stall – their eyes firmly placed on the bananas hanging up on hooks.
