BLACKCAP V GARDEN WARBLER

Bird Watching (UK) - - Your Birding Month -

Song is a vital part of birdwatching. And it is particularly useful when the birds singing are well hidden and hard to see, properly. One notorious pair are the Blackcap and the Garden Warbler. Both these greyish Sylvia warblers should be singing by the end of this month. Sometimes, you may see a singing Blackcap moving around, but Garden Warblers can be particularly tricky birds to see when in song (being shy and skulky). So, you are often left with nothing but a lovely, fluty warble to go on. So, how do you tell the song of a Garden Warbler from that of a Blackcap? Here’s how, now start practising in the field.
