Bird Watching (UK) - - Uk Bird Sightings -

HIGH­LIGHTS: A Surf Scoter, sev­eral Vel­vet Scot­ers and many Com­mon Scot­ers were in Col­wyn Bay (7th-20th). The Long-tailed Duck was still at Shotwick Boat­ing Lake (13th). Two were off Old Col­wyn/lland­du­las through­out, plus a Great North­ern Diver there (19th), Slavo­nian Grebe (20th), Glau­cous Gull (25th) and four Scaup. Rhyl Brick­field Ponds had a Scaup (to 6th). Siberian Chif­fchaffs were in Abergele (1st-11th) and in Flint (12th). Gres­ford Flash held a Firecrest and two Med Gulls (12th). COASTAL SITES: Five Snow Buntings were at Gro­nant (5th-6th) and Point of Ayr (15th) where there was an Eider (25th) and 850 Wi­geon, 300 Pin­tails and eight pale-bel­lied Brent Geese (1st). Con­nah’s Quay held four Spot­ted Red­shanks, 60 Twite, a Marsh Har­rier (5th), Hen Har­rier (26th), seven Black-necked Grebes (6th), 2,200 Black-tailed God­wits, 5,000 Dun­lin, 2,000 Lap­wings, 5,000 Pin­tails, 3,000 Wi­geon, 21 Snipe, five Green­shanks and a Com­mon Sand­piper (2nd-9th). Shotwick Boat­ing Lake had 18 Lit­tle Grebes, a Green Sand­piper and five Whooper Swans (7th). IN­LAND SITES: Waxwings in­cluded 50 at Ruthin (1st). Wrex­ham gar­dens had a Bram­bling (19th) and reg­u­lar Gold­crests and Black­caps. Nor­man Hal­las and Richard Smith
