HIGH­LIGHTS: A Siberian Chif­fchaff was at Wins­ford (5th). A Cattle Egret was at Bur­ton Mere Wet­lands RSPB (26th), plus a Cross­bill, while Great White Egret sight­ings came from Bur­ton Marsh (up to three all month), Sand­bach Flashes (up to two, 9th-28th), Lit­tle Ne­ston (two, 12th, plus three Hen Har­ri­ers and two Short-eared Owls), and Hale (one, 18th). Bur­ton Marsh had a male Hen Har­rier and two Short-eared Owls (27th). WOOLSTON EYES: Ring­ing on No1 bed gave Long-tailed Tit, Reed Bunting and Wil­low Tit. Records in­cluded a Pere­grine, 2,000 Star­lings, three Snipe, three Siskins, two Yel­lowham­mers, a Chif­fchaff, Stonechat and 20 Lin­nets (21st). No3 bed ring­ing Team had Teal, Moorhen, Bullfinch, Gold­crest and Great Spot­ted Wood­pecker. Records in­cluded a Marsh Har­rier, two Tree Spar­rows, King­fisher, Wa­ter Rail, two Wil­low Tits, 67 Shov­el­ers, 21 Pochards, two Wood­cocks, a Barn Owl, Stonechat, Golden Plover and three Curlews. Re­serve-wide counts in­cluded 200 Field­fares, 82 Robins, 323 Tufted Ducks, 76 Mal­lards, 47 Wi­geon, 42 Moorhens, 13 Song Thrushes, 23 Mute Swans, 40 Shel­ducks, 828 Teal, 28 Coots and 29 Gad­wall. The Black-headed Gull breed­ing colony reached 500 birds (by 28th). Dave Steel
