HIGH­LIGHTS: The Red-breasted Goose re­mained in the Pilling area un­til mid-month. The blue-phase Lesser Snow Goose re­mained near Nateby. The Todd’s Canada Goose moved onto the Lune es­tu­ary late in the month. Six Cattle Egrets were near South­port, with five roost­ing on the Marine Lake is­lands. Two Shore Larks were at Bank End, Cock­er­ham (from 24th). EAST LAN­CASHIRE: Two Bit­terns and a Long-tailed Duck were at Brock­holes Wet­land Cen­tre. Ice­land and Glau­cous Gulls were at the Fish­moor roost. A Long-tailed Duck (27th) and

Scaup were at Clow­bridge Reser­voir. Waxwings in­cluded 40 at Wy­coller, 35 at Bar­row, 28 at Oswaldtwistle and 11 at Padi­ham. FYLDE RE­GION: Around 400 Whooper Swans and 14 Bewick’s Swans were near Cock­er­sands. Huge num­bers of Pink­feet re­mained in the Eagland Hill-thurn­ham area, with 30 Rus­sian White­fronts, a Green­land White­front, a pale-bel­lied Brent Goose, five tun­dra Bean Geese, a taiga Bean Goose and four Bar­na­cle Geese. Over 3,000 Com­mon Scot­ers and 20 Red-throated Divers were off Black­pool. Scaup were at Glas­son Dock and My­er­scough Quarry. A Hen Har­rier and Marsh Har­rier were on the Rib­ble Marshes. Two Short-eared Owls were at We­sham Marsh. The tip at Fleet­wood at­tracted two Glau­cous Gulls, an Ice­land Gull and Caspian Gull. A Bit­tern was at the Na­ture Park (5th). A Great White Egret was on War­ton Marsh, with one in the Glas­son Dock-con­der Green area. A Com­mon Sand­piper and Spot­ted Red­shank win­tered at the lat­ter. Green Sand­pipers were at Sin­gle­ton, Mythop and Great Ec­cle­ston. Nine Jack Snipe were on St Anne’s Beach (27th). Eighty Twite were at Cock­er­sands and 55 near Fleet­wood Marsh. Black Red­starts were at Pre­ston and Knott End. Two Snow Buntings were at St Anne’s and one at Cock­er­sands (27th). Eight Waxwings were at An­chor­sholme (6th). Ninety Corn Buntings, 17 Yel­lowham­mers and two Bram­blings were at Eagland Hill. Six Wa­ter Pip­its were at Bur­rows Marsh (28th). MARTON MERE: The Mere’s sec­ond Great White Egret was seen (3rd). There was a Long-eared Owl (1st), Ice­land Gull, Bit­tern, three Bullfinches, 250 Wi­geon, 250 Teal, four Gold­eneyes, a Wa­ter Rail and Cetti’s War­bler. SW LANCS-N MERSEY­SIDE: A Bit­tern was at Mere Sands Wood. A Hen Har­rier was at Hes­keth Out Marsh (4th). A Vel­vet Scoter was off Ains­dale (9th). A Glau­cous Gull was at Penk­ford Flash, Hay­dock (14th-16th). Fif­teen White­fronts were at Martin Mere (19th), with three Great White Egrets at Crossens.
