HIGHLIGHTS: The Pallid Harrier remained in the Welwick area. The Black Brant was still in the Spurn area. FLAMBOROUG­H: There were two Glaucous Gulls and four Velvet Scoters (4th), two Long-tailed Ducks (10th), with four (24th), 12 Lapland Buntings (17th) and a Great Northern Diver (17th). HORNSEA MERE: There were two Long-tailed Ducks all month, a Glaucous Gull and Iceland Gull (11th), two Black-necked Grebes (14th) and a Mediterran­ean Gull (16th). SPURN: There was a Glaucous Gull (1st), Black-throated Divers (2nd and 16th), three

Velvet Scoters (4th), with ten (19th), an Iceland Gull and two Great Northern Divers (5th), a Grey Phalarope (9th), a Great Northern Diver and Mediterran­ean Gull (17th), a Long-tailed Duck (24th), Red-necked Grebe (26th) and five Little Egrets. OTHER SITES: Nine Waxwings were at Sunk Island (4th), ten at Hornsea Mere (5th), four in North Ferriby (8th), ten over East Cowick (14th) and one at Brough (17th). A Glaucous Gull was off Bempton (2nd), with three there (12th). Others were in Hull (4th) and at Brandesbur­ton (20th). Five Little Egrets and three Mediterran­ean Gulls frequented North Cave Wetlands, where there was a Smew (22nd). Barmston had 16 Snow Buntings (24th). A Great Northern Diver was off Cowden (17th). There were regular sightings of Glaucous, Iceland and Mediterran­ean Gulls at Tophill Low. An Iceland Gull visited Southfield Reservoir (28th). Ian Marshall (01482 627 446)
