OTMOOR RSPB: The high­lights of the month in­cluded a fan­tas­tic Tem­minck’s Stint that ar­rived on the 30th, and sin­gle Ospreys that flew over (16th & 28th). Wader num­bers con­tin­ued to in­crease with 13 Ruff (21st), 13 Golden Plovers (22nd), four Black-tailed God­wits (20th), three Avo­cets (9th), Whim­brel (27th), San­der­ling (30th) and Green­shank (20th), along with reg­u­lar Curlew, Dun­lin , Com­mon Sand­piper, Green Sand­piper, Ringed Plover, Lit­tle Ringed Plover and Oys­ter­catcher. Most of the reg­u­lar breed­ing mi­grants ar­rived in good num­bers and pas­sage mi­grants were well rep­re­sented with the best of these be­ing three Red­starts, Ring Ouzel (1st-4th & 15th) and nu­mer­ous Whin­chats, Wheatears and Yel­low Wag­tails. The ring­tail Hen Harrier was present through­out the month, four Pin­tail and four Wi­geon stayed till the lat­ter weeks and at least three Bit­terns used the site reg­u­larly.
