Use the approach road to check for geese, swans and waders. Scan the posts for perched raptors.
This reserve is a great addition to the area’s growing bird list, with new scrapes left and right of the car park so check out the breeding waders, duck and wagtails.
A flood bank protects the area from Wigtown Bay flooding so try walking
north towards the River Bladnoch to check for hunting harriers and owls in winter.
Walk the flood bank south to look for similar birds, checking out the pipits for anything unusual and keep an eye out for Osprey in summer.
Scan the marsh for geese in winter and further out in the bay for tidal movement of sea ducks and seals.
