Fe­male Bullfinches share the black cap, black wings and tail and white rump and wing bar and grey back with the males. The main dif­fer­ence is in the un­der­parts, which are an un­ob­tru­sive grey-brown colour, where the male is bright pink. Ju­ve­niles, are duller still, lack­ing the black head colour.
