Birmingham v Liverpool as city launches official bid for 2022 contest

BIRMINGHAM’S bid to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games would offer a gigantic boost for both jobs and the economy, political and business leaders say.

The region officially launched its ambitious bid this week as it goes all out in what will now be a mighty battle between two great cities – Birmingham and Liverpool.

But with the Second City already offering nearly all the sporting venues needed, it will be Liverpool playing catch-up.
