Henry Wong raises over £6k for charity

Birmingham Post - - BUSINESS -

HARBORNE-BASED Cantonese restaurant Henry Wong welcomed over 80 guests for an evening of wine and cocktail tasting in support of QEHB Charity’s Fisher House.

The evening raised over £6,000, bringing the total money raised to over £20,000 since it started supporting the local charity last year.

Diners were treated to a selection of the restaurant’s finest cuisine with each course being partnered with a wine selected by Waistcoat Wines or a cocktail designed by Crown Cellars, both suppliers to Henry Wong.

The money raised will all go to support Fisher House, which is a ‘‘home away from home’’ for the families of injured military personnel based at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Mike Hammond, chief executive of QEHB Charity, says: “We are delighted that Henry Wong will be supporting us for a second year running, and this was a fantastic first event of 2017.

‘‘Evenings such as this allow Fisher House to provide a safe-haven for military families, enabling them to stay together whilst the injured recover and receive treatment. It costs the charity £250,000 a year to run the facility and we rely entirely on the generous support of individuals and companies.

“The money raised at this event alone will allow 190 military patients and their families to stay at Fisher House, so we’re extremely grateful for all of the support given to us by the restaurant.”
