Major furniture brands heading to city’s Mailbox
A NEW furniture department store is set to open in Birmingham’s Mailbox.
Homewares At The Mailbox will bring together various retailers into a single store on level one of the boutique shopping mall showcasing furniture, lighting and accessory collections.
Among the first to sign up are Heal’s and Made.com.
Heal’s launched in 1810 and is opening in the Midlands for the first time, joining stores in London, Yorkshire and Sussex. As well as furniture, it sells lighting, accessories and kitchenware.
Made.com was set up in 2010 and the Mailbox is also its first foray into the Midlands, joining shops in London, Liverpool and Yorkshire.
They will be joined by retailers such as Danish brand BoConcept and Italian business Calligaris.
Simon Samuels, partner at joint Mailbox owner Brockton Capital, said: “We know that our customers are interested in high-end, contemporary furniture and accessories and Homewares At The Mailbox will be a must-visit destination for both aspirational and accessible brands. We’re delighted to be welcoming two real interiors heavyweights in Heal’s and Made.com alongside a host of other brands as we launch this new offering.”
Hamish Mansbridge, chief executive at Heal’s, said: “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for Heal’s, giving us a new regional flagship store in the Midlands. This significant move shows the desire of local residents for beautiful, well-made pieces of furniture that will stand the test of time.
“The shop itself will be a unique retail space that will bring the best of our online offering to Birmingham.”
Annabel Kilner, commercial director at Made.com, said: “Having seen great promise from the Made Birmingham pop-up, we are delighted to announce the opening of our showroom in the Mailbox. Birmingham is an important city and we’re keen to see the impact the bigger location will have on sales.”
