A BIRM­ING­HAM ad­ven­turer has climbed all 446 moun­tains in Eng­land and Wales in just six months – all on his days off from work. James For­rest, from Har­borne, climbed ev­ery 2,000ft moun­tain in Eng­land and Wales this summer in record time. The Brum­mie walked more than 1,000 miles and climbed more than fives times the height of Ever­est in to­tal. Re­mark­ably, the 34-year-old climbed all 446 moun­tains wear­ing wife Re­becca’s old boots to save money. “I climbed the first few in her boots and with­out re­al­is­ing I’d fin­ished them all. We’re the same size feet,” he said. His fi­nal sum­mit was Scafell Pike, in the Lake Dis­trict, Eng­land’s high­est moun­tain at 3,209ft. James grew up in Birm­ing­ham be­fore mov­ing to Cum­bria in the summer of 2016.
