Action is overdue to stop travellers

Birmingham Post - - NEWS -

DEAR Editor, When are we going to do something to stop travellers doing exactly what they want to do? They break the locks of gates and leave all of their rubbish behind when they move on. No community deserves this.

How much is it costing the council to clean up after them and how much is it costing in wasting valuable police time? It is becoming a massive problem and it needs sorting before it gets out of hand.

We all know that the council and police follow a joint protocol which sometimes works. I just feel that sometimes we need to look at the residents and the community that it affects. In my ward of Longbridge we have, on a few occasions, seen first hand the after-effects of what they leave in our community.

The law needs to change and any decent resident who cares for his or her community would want it to. Councillor Andy Cartwright, Longbridge ward
