DEAR Ed­i­tor, Who­ever de­signed the road mark­ings at Long­bridge is­land on the A38 should be made to stand there and watch the cars cut­ting in from the in­cred­i­bly short and stupid third right-hand lane.

I use this route at least twice a day but now when you come down from Lickey Road on ei­ther lane you are forced into a bot­tle­neck be­cause you can’t cross the solid white line.

You then face the night­mare of try­ing to get into the left lane of un­der­tak­ing traf­fic to go straight on into Birm­ing­ham. What a dis­as­ter!

An is­land that never had a prob­lem has had one cre­ated for it. I guar­an­tee you will see many mi­nor col­li­sions and hope­fully noth­ing more ma­jor.

Put it back to the way it was. Even in rush hour it worked fine, although slow. Now it doesn’t. All it will do is in­crease the amount of road rage and frus­tra­tion for mo­torists.
