Don’t ‘fix’ what wasn’t broken...
DEAR Editor, Whoever designed the road markings at Longbridge island on the A38 should be made to stand there and watch the cars cutting in from the incredibly short and stupid third right-hand lane.
I use this route at least twice a day but now when you come down from Lickey Road on either lane you are forced into a bottleneck because you can’t cross the solid white line.
You then face the nightmare of trying to get into the left lane of undertaking traffic to go straight on into Birmingham. What a disaster!
An island that never had a problem has had one created for it. I guarantee you will see many minor collisions and hopefully nothing more major.
Put it back to the way it was. Even in rush hour it worked fine, although slow. Now it doesn’t. All it will do is increase the amount of road rage and frustration for motorists.
