Uni­ver­sity sci­ence hub to ex­pand

A SCI­ENCE hub at the Uni­ver­sity of Birm­ing­ham is ex­pand­ing in re­sponse to de­mand for its space.

A 5,000 sq ft lab and of­fice suite will be built at BioHub Birm­ing­ham in Edg­bas­ton.

The BioHub opened in 2015 and its shared fa­cil­i­ties on the ground floor are now op­er­at­ing at ca­pac­ity, ac­cord­ing to the in­sti­tute.

The hub is man­aged by Uni­ver­sity of Birm­ing­ham En­ter­prise on Birm­ing­ham Re­search Park which pro­vides in­cu­ba­tion ser­vices and fa­cil­i­ties along­side com­mer­cial of­fice space for bio­med­i­cal and hi-tech com­pa­nies.

Other re­cent de­vel­op­ment projects on the cam­pus aimed at im­prov­ing med­i­cal in­no­va­tion in­clude the Health­care Tech­nolo­gies In­sti­tute, the Cen­tre for Cus­tom Med­i­cal De­vices and the Med­i­cal De­vices Test­ing and Eval­u­a­tion Cen­tre.
