Old iron found at auction

Black Country Bugle - - YOUR LETTERS -

I recently bought this iron from an auction in North Yorkshire – see attached pictures – and I thought BCB readers would be interested to know that some products made in the Black Country are still at around.

The iron was made by the CWS (Co-operative Wholesale Society) at their factory in Dudley – hence the ‘Dudley’ Iron.

It is 5lb in weight and measures around 8” long by 4” wide.

The history of the factory and personal reminisces would make interesting reading – did any of your readers work there?

I am happy to part with it for around £10 plus postage if any reader is interested to return it to its roots. Christopher Taylor taylor.ct1@gmail.com
