Letter to the Editor

Balmoral Road speeding is urgent issue

Blairgowrie Advertiser - - NEWS - Dear Editor Ann Thomson, Rattray

Further to my letter in “The Blairie” dated September 15 regarding speeding traffic in Balmoral Road, Rattray, I find it strange that in all the current newspaper coverage of concerns over speeding on the streets of Blairgowrie and Rattray, Balmoral Road does not even get a mention.

Blairgowrie-based Police Scotland Inspector Gordon Thomson is quoted as saying that they have dedicated patrols to deal with speeding vehicles, but do not have the resources to be everywhere.

OK, we know he has to work within a budget, but he goes on to say that he wants to educate the public about the dangers of speeding.

These law-breakers already know the dangers of speeding and won’t stop until they are brought to justice.

I live on Balmoral Road and have yet to see any police presence, or any attempt to curb the constant speeding.

I cannot fathom why Balmoral Road isn’t included in the remit of the “dedicated patrols”.

For the safety of residents and law-abiding motorists, Balmoral Road’s omission as an area of cause for concern needs to be rectified – urgently.
