Coupar knocked out by Luncarty
Coupar Angus were knocked out of the GA Cup by Perthshire rivals Luncarty at the weekend.
It was the second week in a row the teams had faced off against each other following a 2-2 draw in the league.
But Luncarty proved too strong at Foxhall Park this time round to run out comfortable 6-1 winners. Murray Irvine netted the Coupar goal.
Manager Logan McConachie had no complaints about the result and said: “Luncarty started well but we gifted them goals by not picking up second balls or tracking runners.
“They played well though and deserved the victory.
“We had eight players missing from last week and unfortunately our squad depth isn’t as plentiful as that of Luncarty.
“And with a number of experienced players missing we were fighting a losing battle. We’ll look to right our wrongs this weekend coming.”
Coupar are back on North Division duty this weekend and travel to play Forfar Albion, who are yet to record a win this season. Kick-off is 2.30pm.
This week’s Blairgowrie JFC berrypickers’ weigh-in numbers were 6, 10, 13 and 16.
There were no winners, meaning the prize money next week will be £950.
