Bunter’s zom­bie day to raise cash for trans­plants

Staff at Bunter’s Cafe in the Wellmeadow in Blair­gowrie will be dress­ing up for Hal­lowe’en this year to raise money for the Free­man Heart and Lung Trans­plant As­so­ci­a­tion.

This year the team have em­braced a Day of the Dead theme for their cos­tumes and will be dressed up on Satur­day and Sun­day this week­end, as well as Hal­lowe’en it­self on Tues­day and Mex­ico’s Day of the Dead on Wed­nes­day next week.

And as well as the dress­ing up, the team will also be sell­ing Hal­lowe’en and Day of the Dead themed good­ies in the take away, in­clud­ing pump­kin soup, scary muffins , skull lol­lies and lots more.

There will be com­pe­ti­tions such as guess the name of the spi­der, and they will be col­lect­ing do­na­tions as well as spon­sor­ship over the four days.

Man­ager Tina Glid­don ex­plained that they de­cided to raise money for the Free­man Heart and Lung Trans­plant As­so­ci­a­tion (FHLTA) this year af­ter the hus­band of the owner of Bun­ters, Janette Al­lan, un­der­went a dou­ble lung trans­plant around five months ago.

The FHLTA is a vol­un­tary or­gan­i­sa­tion con­sist­ing of heart and or lung trans­plant re­cip­i­ents, fam­i­lies and their sup­port­ers.

It aims to pro­vide ad­vice and sup­port to heart and lung trans­plant pa­tients as well as raise aware­ness of trans­plants.
