- Paul Cargill

Three people accused of seriously assaulting a man in a Rattray street to the danger of his life will all stand trial later this year after denying the charge at Perth Sheriff Court this week.

Hendry McDonald, Hendry David Andrew McDonald and Colin McDonald have all denied assaulting Peter Drummond by repeatedly punching him on the head and body and attempting to strike him with wooden and metal bladed weapons in MacDonald Crescent on December 9 last year.

Colin McDonald (22), of Provost Road, Blairgowrie, also denied a separate charge alleging that on the same date he seriously assaulted Francis Drummond in the same street to the danger of his life by repeatedly striking him on the body with a sword or similar implement and hitting him on the head with a baseball bat.

And Hendry McDonald (42), of John Law Court, High Street, Auchterarder, denied another charge alleging he assaulted Elizabeth Drummond on the same date by brandishing a knife at her.

All three men have further denied destroying a FordTransit motor vehicle with wooden bats or similar implements by smashing its windscreen and wing mirrors as well as carrying knives, swords or similar weapons on the same date.

Colin McDonald and Hendry David Andrew McDonald, (18), of Dunkeld Place, Dunkeld Road, Blairgowrie, also denied carrying baseball bats, metal poles or similar implements.

All three will now be tried at Perth Sheriff Court starting on December 11.
