l THE of­fi­cial at­ten­dance was 14,623, which was in ex­cess of 5,000 short of a sell-out. While the con­test was cer­tainly ea­gerly awaited, the ex­tor­tion­ate price of tick­ets (the cheap seats were priced at a not re­motely cheap $2,500) was far too much for fans who had likely al­ready paid that in air fares and ho­tel fees.

l THE at­mos­phere in­side the T-mo­bile Arena was not as ex­pected. While there was plenty of well­be­haved Ir­ish fans in at­ten­dance who made them­selves heard, this was noth­ing like the days of Ricky Hat­ton in Las Ve­gas. Also, in the build-up to the bout, the Strip was lack­ing in big-fight buzz.
