TALLOSI IS TAMED

Dave Parton sees hometowner Ali halt his Hungarian opponent

-

LOCAL Shakeeb Ali stopped Hungary’s Gyula Tallosi at the bell to end the third of a scheduled six rounds at Audley Sports Centre. The superior accuracy of Ali overcame Tallosi, who gave it a good go but shipped too many clean shots. The end came with Ali backing his opponent up against the ropes, before a barrage of punches put the import down. Tallosi beat the count, but referee Darren Sarginson judged him as being in no position to continue.

Darwen’s AJ Faizy returned after a twoyear absence to overcome Amsterdam’s

Innocent Anyanwu 59-55 on referee Sarginson’s card. There was hardly a moment’s rest for either man as they elected to stand and trade. Ultimately, Faizy’s punches were crisper and he showed more variation.

Alex Mccloy had a frustrating night, despite recording a 60-53 points win over Southwark-based Victor Edagha. The action rarely flowed, in spite of Blackpool’s Mccloy’s best efforts. Referee John Latham deducted a point from Edagha for holding in the fourth. Mccloy tried doubling his jab to find a way inside, but was unable to work from there.

Blackburn’s Omar Dusary took a 60-54 victory over Ghana’s Michael Barnor for Mr Sarginson. The moment of the fight came at the end of the opener, when Dusary wobbled his opponent with a strong right hand. The action was frantic at times, but Dusary put some neat combinations together and generally forced the pace.

Oldham’s Mohammed Rashad claimed a 40-37 decision over Nicaragua’s Geiboord

Omier on Mr Latham’s card. Neither man took control, and the exchanges were scrappy. Omier bloodied the nose of Rashad in the opening stanza.

THE VERDICT Popular Ali scores the sole stoppage of the night.
